You’ve seen the ads on TV, and have admired the “before” and “after” examples – but does Eyesential really work?!
I sometimes use concealer to disguise the dark circles under my eyes, but unfortunately it doesn’t really help hide bags, wrinkles or puffiness – so I was keen to try Eyesential for myself to see if it really was the miracle product the advertisements claimed.
Directions for using Eyesential
For best results, shake the bottle, dot the tiniest amount on your middle finger tip, and whisk it under your eye area with a feather light touch. This is important – on my first attempt I think I used too much, and dragged it across.
Even in some of the example videos on the website, it looks like they use too much pressure when applying Eyesential.
Don’t be alarmed if you are disappointed in the results on your first couple of attempts. It takes practice to get the application right.
My skin felt a little tight for the first few minutes (not unlike wearing a clay face mask) but that soon eases and you forget you’re wearing Eyesential, aided by the fact that it disappears when dry.
The Results
Initially, the area under my eyes DID look better – as you can see in the un-retouched photos above. So I guess the initial answer to “Does Eyesential really work?” is “Yes”.
However – I was disappointed that Eyesential didn’t live up to the claim of lasting “10 hours or until washed off”. My skin is quite oily and I suspect that is why – perhaps it would work better on dry skin. Within a couple of hours I felt it became “cracked” (again, like a clay face mask) and if anything made my under eye area look worse!
On further consideration, my under eye area is pretty much fine just the way it is – Eyesential would probably be more effective on more mature skin.
If you feel that Eyesential could work for you, it’s available from the Eternal Cosmeceuticals website or call 1300 ETERNAL; RRP $99.

Did you know – May is Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness month?
Today I am guest posting on Musings of the Misguided, about what it was like growing up with a mother with Borderline Personality Disorder – do pop over and check it out!

Thanks for that Janet – I always wonder about the claims they make – like lipstick lasting all day – mine hardly ever makes it past about 10am !!!!
Have a great day !

It just looked too good to be true on TV, y’know?! I just HAD to find out for myself!
Emma Fahy Davis says
Loved your post over at Musings of the Misguided! I might have to try Eyesential, lack of sleep has not served my skin well!
Janet Camilleri says
Thanks Emma, it’s pretty expensive but it’d be worth it if it worked for 10 hours like it’s supposed to.
Bec @ The Plumbette says
I use concealer under my eyes too to hide dark circles – I go through the stuff quicker when I have a newborn. 😉 Thanks for the review, I usually buy the cheaper brands and I’ve never heard of this one before.
Janet Camilleri says
Would you believe – I’ve only discovered/started using concealer in the past 12 months?! Now I wouldn’t be without it!
Rae Hilhorst says
Hi Janet, I try bits and pieces over time and am often disappointed. I now use a tinted skin perfect primer by Dermalogica and a light dry coating of Napoleon’s camera finish powder. It lasts me all day and like you I have oily skin, it really feels like I am not wearing makeup. I love it xxx Rae.
Janet Camilleri says
Sounds great – will have to try them. I have a Napoleon mascara which I love 🙂

I have learned to take commercials with a grain of salt usually. I’m happy to read a honest review – I’ve noticed that some bloggers only review products they’re satisfied about, perhaps for advertising purposes.
Janet Camilleri says
Hi Astrid, I will always strive to tell the truth here on my blog and try to resist the temptation of being paid big bikkies to review products (in a positive light)!
Kirsty @ My Home Truths says
I’m starting to be in the market for an under eye product – all those sleepless nights and everything I do each day is finally starting to catch up with me. The after photo was quite amazing – pity it didn’t last for as long as promised.
Janet Camilleri says
I’ve been using Maybelline Instnat Age Rewind concealer, and it does the job without costing the earth 🙂
Emily @ Have A Laugh On Me says
I’ve never heard of this product – a shame really as there are lots of times I could have done with this before a big night out!
Janet Camilleri says
You obviously never watch the morning shows or the TV shopping channels – must have better things to do! (Like look after 3 children!) 😉
Pinky Poinker says
I’ve seen all the infomercials and was keen to buy some but I looked it up on the web and quite a lot of people were claiming it burnt their skin. After reading what you’ve said I’ll just live with my bags and wrinkles.
Janet Camilleri says
I saw those reviews too Pinky. It hasn’t burnt me thank goodness; it just feels a bit weird – exactly like a clay face mask.
Aroha @ Colours of Sunset says
I seriously question most beauty products. But I did a 5-day trial recently of Arbonne skin care line and omg it was awesome. I noticed a huge change in my skin. But I still couldn’t afford or justify the $350+ it was going to cost me to purchase all the products 🙁
Janet Camilleri says
I know, I just can’t justify spending that much on beauty products either, no matter how nice they may be …
Mystery Case says
Hadn’t seen this product. I’m using something from Clinique for under eyes at the moment but there is no lifting or instant benefits. Not sure if I’m noticing a difference or not.
Janet Camilleri says
Dontcha just hate that, when you have your fingers crossed but … not really sure if a product is working or not?!
EssentiallyJess says
I hadn’t heard of it!
I have a little eye concealer thing I use for bags. I use it most days 🙂
Janet Camilleri says
If you are ever sad and sorry enough to watch daytime TV (who me?!) or the shopping channels, you’ll come across it 😉
Rachel @ Redcliffe Style says
I haven’t seen this, but the temporary results are amazing. If only you only need to look great for an hour or too. Great review! Thanks for linking up. Rachel x
Janet Camilleri says
Yep, great for a quick photo sesh but that’s about it for me I’m afraid!
Nikki @ Wonderfully Women says
I got to try it at a exhibition that I went to, and the same thing happened. After about an hour it cracked and felt terrible. I too have very oily skin which is ridiculous for my age. I am so glad I didn’t buy it as I would never use it again. xx N
Kate Mac - Glamour Mama says
Oh gosh – I saw an ad for this stuff only last week and got totally suckered in and almost went and bought some straight away. Luckily I have baby brain and forgot! Thanks for such an honest review Janet x K
Janet Camilleri says
Me too Kate – I just *had* to try it!
Emma says
I’ve been using the nutrimetics new eye serum, and really loving it!
Janet Camilleri says
Thanks for the tip Emma!
Anya says
I use an Australian-made product which is a bit like Eyesential but doesn’t feel so tight on the skin. Its called The Eyelift Kit and I just buy the mini ones that are only $29 – it makes a big difference when my eyes are puffy after a sleepless night!
Janet Camilleri says
Good to know – thanks Anya!
