I’m putting this post together for purely selfish reasons – every year I get asked for my Christmas wishlist (or my birthday wishlist, which falls just 13 days later) – and every year I struggle to think of anything!
So this year, I’ve decided to put it all in one place, for my family and friends to access. No more being put on the spot!
And it might just inspire you, if you are looking for gift ideas for any of the middle aged women in your life … you’re welcome π .
Bags & Accessories
I would love the tote bag (bottom right) – for when I need a bigger bag; and the credit card wallet (bottom left), to add to my collection.
The weekend bag (top left) would be perfect for cabin baggage when we head to Europe to celebrate our silver wedding next May.
And the jewelled keychain? Hey, it’s BLING!
These are all from Kate Hill.
Reading Matter
Either of the books pictured can be bought for around the $20 mark and are ones I’m particularly keen to read.
“The List of My Desires” (below) has been on the top 10 best-selling list in France since it was published in 2012. The story is about a 47 year old woman who wins millions but doesn’t tell anybody. Oh, and she has a sewing blog which is just beginning to take off … π
I was privileged to attend a literary luncheon with Aussie author Kate Morton a couple of years ago … I just love her books!
But hey, any chic lit is always welcome π .
“Running Away from Home” by Jane De Teliga sounds intriguing too. It’s her travel memoir of leaving her job (as style editor for the Australian Womens Weekly), selling her house and ‘running away’ to Paris!
Robot Vacuum
Since my shoulder injury I can’t vacuum anymore (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!) so I’ve been lusting after one of these for quite a while now.
Well, Christmas came early at my house and I was sent one by the great people atΒ Crazy Sales. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love being able to sit at my computer and work (like right now!) while my “robots” take care of the house (washing machine, dishwasher, and now my robot vacuum).
We’ve given it a workout already and it’s heaps quieter than a traditional vacuum. Even the kitty isn’t scared of it – see!
We were particularly impressed with the anti-collision feature, and the mopping function – both are quite amazing in a product that retails for only $299. This is a lot less than others we have looked at, with similar features.
If you too have been dreaming of getting your own robot vacuum, you can find out more about it here.
And I have some great news – one lucky reader will win a $100 voucher to shop at Crazy Sales! Check out the entry form below for your chance to win.
Macrame Necklace
This macrame necklace reminds me of one I owned in 1979 … I loved it then, and I’d love one now. I found this one on Etsy.
Nightie & Robe
I love satin chemise nighties and wear them to bed all year round (except for the very coldest Winter nights). I love them because I don’t have to wear a bra but I still look decent!
What I would especially love is a satin chemise with a matching robe. I found this one at Best and Less for just $20; I’d rather a pretty colour or print, but this (or red) was all I could find – I’d be happy with these in a pinch π .
You know, it’s been fun to dream while I’ve been putting together my Christmas wishlist, but to be honest: I don’t really need anything. I am so blessed!
So I’d love to share the love with others in need …
Chickens
I’d love chickens but there’s no room on our tiny suburban block. But you could still buy a chicken or two in my name through Plan, and they would be given to a family that really needs them!
Which one/s would be on your Christmas wishlist – or have I inspired you with some gift ideas for the middle aged women in your life?!
Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post; I did however receive a robot vacuum cleaner from Crazy Sales for review purposes.
UPDATE: Congratulations to Vicki from Knocked Up and Abroad, the winner of this competition, and thanks to all who entered x

Ingrid @ Fabulous and Fun Life says
I have placed “The List of My Desires” at the top of my summer reading list!
Janet Camilleri says
It sure sounds like a great read. Hope it’s been translated well though.
Vicki @ Knocked Up and Abroad says
I luv Kate Hill stuff. It’s just so pretty and feminine. I wouldn’t mind that robo vacuum cleaner either. I like the idea of having a little electronic slave designed to make my life easier!
Janet Camilleri says
Vicki, I am absolutely loving it! I know there are folk that say it doesn’t get into the corners etc, but for somebody like me who literally CAN’T vacuum at all, this is much better than the alternative of grotty floors everywhere!
Raych aka Mystery Case says
All I want for Christmas is a blog sponsor that will update my camera, phone and any other device that would make my life, especially blogging easier.
Janet Camilleri says
Fingers crossed for you Raych! I still can’t believe I actually received one of the products on my wishlist!

Snap! I’m in the process of writing a Xmas Wish List post also! I’m not sure if it will see t he light of day though because I have shocked myself over the fact that all the t hings that I would like are expensive! I’m thinking I will carry on but have an inexpensive section as well – now to think of some inexpensive gifts that I would like! I would love one of those robot vacuum cleaners – because hello – I have two dogs!! I love reading Kate Morton and am really liking all your Kate Hill gift options! π
Janet Camilleri says
I hope Santa is feeling generous for you this year and gets you at least one of the expensive things you’re longing for! x
Aroha @ Colours of Sunset says
Well, my mum has asked for a handbag and matching wallet for Christmas, so maybe I will be heading to Kate Hill! My sister and I are meeting at the shops tomorrow. It’s such a personal choice, though, bags etc. I guess we’ll just make sure she can return or exchange it. Lots of great things here, I hope between Christmas and your birthday you get them all! π x Aroha

Fingers crossed Paige xxx

An Robot Vacuum would be my dream present, I might have to give hubby a big hint,wink.wink. I work as a House Keeper in a Hotel and vacuuming my own house is on the bottom of my cleaning list after a hard days work!!
Eva @ The Multitasking Mummy says
Gee, aren’t you a clever little cookie sharing your christmas list on your blog. I should have thought of the same!
Alicia says
I like the chicken buying idea. I only found out yesterday you could buy a toilet for someone overseas too!
I wouldn’t mind a macrame necklace too π
Janet Camilleri says
LOL with a blog called One Mother Hen – I thought you might! π
Emily @ Have A Laugh On Me says
My hubby saw this robotic vac and wondered whether it would be good, especially now we have two cats – I wonder if the kid’s toys would annoy it!
Janet Camilleri says
I find it’s a good idea to put the dining chairs on top of the table, and make sure all of my kitty’s toys are off the floor before I let “Trevor” do his thing … also it doesn’t like the shag pile rug in the family room but I just set a barrier there.
Renee Wilson says
I’ve never even heard of a robot vacuum cleaner before. Sounds awesome. I have to say at the top of my list though is a handbag and books. Snap!

Toni @ Finding Myself Young says
I’ve wanted a robot vacuum cleaner for SO LONG, but all the ones I could find were around $700 so I could never justify it – that one’s an awesome price!
Janet Camilleri says
Toni, even better they’re on special for $219 at the moment so grab one if you can. I *love* mine!
Kim-Marie, Chief Dreamer at Kimba Likes says
Ooh, yes, buy yourself the Kate Morton book if your hints aren’t received and acted upon! It is fabulous and perfect for summer relaxing. I’ve read all of her books.
I have a new Missoni for Target chemise coming my way for Christmas – I know because I bought it for myself!
Janet Camilleri says
I have been eyeing off some of those Missoni goodies at Target too – something else to add to my wishlist – thanks for the reminder!
EssentiallyJess says
I love the bags you find! I think I need to send people to you when I want a new bag as a gift. You know all the good places π

CHICKENS! I have ALWAYS wanted a pet chicken, but my inner city apartment with it’s tiny tiny balcony has no space for a chook, so last year my dad bought me an Oxfam Chook. It’s like my own chook, except someone else gets it… But I have a photo of it on my wall – that counts right?
I might have to buy someone a Plan chook this year.
Janet Camilleri says
Absolutely! Nice to meet somebody else who thinks the chickens are a great idea – my family thinks I’m a bit weird!!!

I won the book βThe List of My Desiresβ through a FB competition run by Lincraft. A quick easy read but quite enjoyable. Have also read the first of Kate Morton’s books. Have the others but just haven’t got to them yet!
