What’s your fave place when it comes to hanging out on social media?
Some folk dig Twitter; others love Linked In.
Or does Facebook get the thumbs up from you?
Maybe you prefer the more visual mediums of Instagram or Pinterest.
Some are silly about SnapChat, or have taken to Tumblr; while others make a fuss about Google Plus.
Although you’ll find me on all of these (except SnapChat and Tumblr, they’re more Miss 20’s thing), the reality is I don’t spend my whole life on social media (although it can feel like it sometimes as I manage Facebook pages for a few local businesses!).
My Favourite Social Media
If I had to pick just one, I would say that Facebook is my favourite.
It seems I’m not alone – look at how popular Facebook is with ALL generations, not just Generation X, when compared to other social media platforms:
The runner up in my book would be Instagram – I particularly like it for finding fashion inspiration, and enjoy sharing my own style – and more than a few cat pics! – there too.
In fact, all this to say: I’ve started using a new hashtag on my style posts: #mamstyle … short for Middle Aged Mama style.
I want to show the world that middle aged women still enjoy fashion. And what fashion from the real world looks like – real women, with real figures, and real budgets (we don’t all have a gazillion to spend on designer labels, in fact #thrifted often suits me just fine!).
If that sounds like you, please join me in proving that midlife isn’t matronly – it’s marvellous! Simply use the hashtag #mamstyle and tag me @middleagedmama on Instagram. I’d love to see your #mamstyle!
Oh, and if we’re not already, I’d love to connect with you on the other social media platforms too – here’s where you will find me:
Facebook – Twitter – Google+ – Pinterest – Good Reads – Linked In
Who’s with me for the #mamstyle challenge? What’s your favourite place to hang out on social media?!

I used to LOVE Twitter. Back in 2010 – 2013 it was easily my favourite. I even closed my blog FB page for a few years as it felt pointless. FB was the place I did my personal stuff and Twitter was for engaging with people I didn’t know and sharing bloggy stuff.
I think that’s changed and for a few reasons. I used to use Twitter when commuting to work cos of the pace of the updates and constant new information. Also I used my mobile a lot more. Now I’m on my mobile less and never commuting.
And interestingly I tend to use Instagram more for sharing pics which is weird as I’m not particularly visual but it’s the biggest time waster for me!

I have to agree with Facebook and Instagram. I don’t particularly like Twitter. However I am getting rather keen on Pinterest (probably because I love travel photos). I’m flat out posting my Instagram photo everyday and keeping up with Facebook is sometimes so time consuming. I have to drag myself away sometimes. #TeamLovinLife

My favourite is probably Facebook too but Instagram comes a very close second. I love Instagram, however I just can’t get into that overly styled thing that bloggers are doing. I like my instagram to be natural and real and as it comes. I want the freedom to post whatever I like – not be limited to a style and look. Maybe its my age? Love your new hashtag #mamstyle I’ll try and remember to use it if I do a fashion post – which is pretty rare LOL – but you never know! #TeamLovinLife

I’m a Facebook girl through and through – love it for the social connection and for keeping up with what’s happening in the world (although I hate the political rants). I’m not on Instagram or Twitter – neither appeal because I’m not a big photo taker or snippet writer. I’ll just check out your fashion choices on FB instead 🙂

I love Facebook for connecting with family and friends, Janet. Lately I’ve been drawn to Instagram as well. love your hashtag. I’ll have to think of one now I’m turning 60. Xx

Facebook has exploded in popularity and I do enjoy using it. I’ve flirted with Instagram, but still feel Facebook is able to deliver more of a message, rather than just pretty pics. I’m on Twitter, but have never really embraced it. For business – I prefer LinkedIn 🙂 #TeamLovinLife

I’ve never done snapchat or twitter for the blog or personally. I try to post daily outfits on insta and facebook, and more recently blog posts to. I’m trying to get my head around the in’s & out’s of using pinterest for the blog, but love spending time on there pinning pics to blog post topic boards and other things that catch my eye. I’ll try and remember to include your # in my outfit posts to insta.

I’m a Facebook gal, but I do love Instagram – although it’s a time waste. I dabble with Pinterest, but it doesn’t really work for me.
