Sorry for the ear worm … but the songwriters got it wrong, in my humble opinion.
Christmas is definitely *not* the most wonderful time of the year (in fact I would almost go so far as to say, it’s my least favourite! Click on the link to find out why I don’t like Christmas).
For me, it’s got to be Autumn and particularly the months of April and May. The sky is blue, the birds are singing, tra la la la la ….
But seriously! Here are just a few reasons why I love this time of the year:
- After a long, hot summer, the weather is finally bearable here in Brisbane. The days are usually beautiful and warm, but at night the temperature drops which means …
- It’s snuggly and cosy in bed!
- The sky seems to have a particular blue to it at this time of year, which I love.
- There are heaps of public holidays to enjoy – Easter, Labour Day, Anzac Day.
- Our wedding anniversary is on 5 May, which often means …
- A romantic getaway of some sort (though I’m not sure that we’ll be doing anything this year).
- I love the autumn leaves (not that we get too many here, but it sure looked pretty in Stanthorpe last week).
- And then there’s Mother’s Day – when I get spoilt with gifts from the kidults (though after last year, I’ve told them just a pair of slippers would be fine!).
Can you think of any other reasons why April and May are such lovely months?
Or do you have a different opinion about the most wonderful time of the year?!

I think it is a nice time of year- not too cold, pretty colours, snuggly nights- not too shabby at all!

Oh, I am SO with you. It’s almost perfect. I loved seeing the leaves in Armidale last week, but love even more being able to open the house up and have that gorgeous slightly cool, completely perfect temperature come drifting through. #TeamLovinLife

Yes, and it means we save on power bills because we no longer need the air conditioning on all the time!

I agree it is a nice time of year. I just wish we got lots of the Autumn colours here in Perth.
Janet Camilleri says
Same here Anne, have to go up into the mountains to see any.

Totally agree. I’m in love with Brissie in autumn. We basically had no autumn in central qld! Loving the sky , yes it definitely has it’s own autumn shade of blue. Yup , thankful for autumn blessings : ) However, as a routine lover, I’m over the public holidays , they put me and my kids all out of wack.

Just quietly Liz, as a small business owner, I sometimes work on public holidays so they don’t really mean that much to me either! But I do enjoy having the hubster around 🙂

Hi Janet
I’m with you on the colours of autumn…so pretty!
And Anzac Day is special as well ??

Totally agree with you Janet! Such a lovely reprieve from the heat of summer. I love autumn and I love winter. Spring is ok … until it starts getting too hot and summer beats down on us again. That romantic getaway sounds good! 🙂 #TeamLovinLife

It is nice because it is warm during day then cool!

Another reason autumn is special – it’s vintage time in the wine regions. It is usually the most stable pleasant weather we get all year, love it!

I’m loving the slightly cooler temperatures at the moment. I do love the autumn leaves too Janet! 🙂 #TeamLovinLife

I love Autumn too – and I always relate it to this stage of life – past the hot and sweaty days of Summer but not yet into the cold and miserable days of Winter. Just a perfect time to be alive.
