The kids were asking what presents I would like, so I thought I should write down my Christmas wish list.
Trouble is, once my imagination was let loose, it went a bit crazy. I forgot about the boring little details like money (or the lack of it), or how realistic it might actually be!
So sorry kids, this is going to be absolutely no help to you whatsoever (but I’ve had a lot of fun dreaming about the possibilities!).
A European River Cruise – At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I love cruising holidays. So if cost was no object, the hubster and I would waste no time in setting off on a European river cruise, floating down the Rhine, the Seine, the Danube … heck all of them. Why not go for broke I say!
A White Christmas – I’ve only ever experienced Christmas in Australia, with plenty of sun, surf, sand and seafood. Imagine instead, going ice skating in front of the Rockefeller Centre in New York. Or the Christmas markets in Europe …
A Trip to Japan – I also have a yen (excuse the pun!) to visit Japan in cherry blossom season.
Actually come to think of it, there are so many places across the world that I’d like to visit and experience – so let’s just say TRAVEL full stop!
A New Car – There is nothing wrong with the car I’ve got. Well, except for a few scratches (oops, darn shopping trolleys and bollards that get in the way). And working from home, it’s not as if I use it a lot. But still … I’ve had the same car since 2009 and dream of something newer and flasher. (In the real world, probably not a good idea. At least with my old car I don’t worry if I happen to scrape against the mailbox again!).
A New House – I don’t mind the actual house we are in. But … a bit more room would be lovely; parking in particular is at a premium (with kidults, it’s a constant game of musical cars).
I hate that we are on a small block in the thick of suburbia, where I can’t open my windows for a breeze because instead the neighbours’ smoke drifts in. And if I set foot out on the patio, the dog on the other side barks at me. Plus I feel like the people there are always staring in, so I have to keep the blinds drawn.
A New Bedroom Suite – Technically there is nothing wrong with our current solid timber bedroom furniture. It’s just we’ve had it nearly 27 years and I’m longing for something light, bright and white. I’ve been looking for months and just haven’t seen anything I actually like! The fashion seems to be for low furniture these days, and pieces that don’t actually have much in the way of storage. So I guess I’ll just keep looking …
Upgrade My Wedding Rings – Do you like my wedding set? Aren’t they beautiful? Look at the size of that diamond! If only it was real … yes, the truth is we bought this set for all of $40 but we both love it so much – imagine if it was real!
Win Big on Lotto or Scratchies – As I don’t actually buy any tickets, this could be quite a challenge. Meh, details!
Okay, time to stop thinking of myself …
The Perfect Job for the Hubster – I’m not too sure what that might be, all I know is that life seems mighty unfair sometimes (for him, not me). While I get to work from home, doing what I love, sadly he is the opposite. If you look up the expression “over-worked and underpaid” online, you will see the hubster’s photo. Plus there’s a 50 minute drive each way – no wonder he comes home exhausted, too tired to do much more than crash in front of the TV at night. I’d love to see him doing something he loves and that energises, instead of exhausts, him! Or maybe he should just retire and be done with it?!
A House Each for My Kids – Or at the very least a sizeable deposit. Would love to give them a leg up into their grown up lives!
Or I could make like a Miss Universe contestant and wish for world peace! But what’s really on my heart is …
For People to get their Cats Fixed – It breaks my heart to see so many unwanted kittens and cats especially at this time of year. Please, if you have a cat pet of any sort, do the right thing!
More Accommodation for Women in Need – I’ve touched on the plight of homeless women before. It’s time we stopped “researching” the problem and actually provided some accommodation.
So there you have it, my Christmas wish list. Would any of these be on your dream list?!

Wow now that is a good list! I would just love a weekend away with my partner and having someone look after the kids.
Janet Camilleri says
Yes, a special weekend away without kids would be wonderful. Hope Santa can grant your wish 🙂

Love your list, but you may need to win lotto!
I guess though you could plan for bits of your wish list… new bedroom suite first, book / plan an overseas cruise / holiday next Christmas in winter etc…
Janet Camilleri says
Yes, that’s pretty much the plan Deb. We even looked at bedroom furniture this week!

Gosh Janet that is some Christmas Wish List! I actually don’t need much at all this Christmas, but then again I do have a big holiday planned for 2017 so I’m feeling very spoilt. #TeamLovinLife
Janet Camilleri says
I don’t need much/anything either, which is probably why I went over the top with this list 😉

Yes! to people taking responsibility for their pets…
My wish is for a safe, smooth move to Brisvagas for our family, and for my kids to settle in well at their new school.
Janet Camilleri says
I wish that for you too Liz x

Great list Janet. You never know, one of those competition cruises may still be yours! 🙂 x #TeamLovinLife
Janet Camilleri says
I entered another one last night so fingers crossed Lyndall!

That’s a great list. Good luck kids! LOL.
We went to the USA last year in search of a white Christmas. They ended up having the warmest Christmas in 100 years or something. Oh well. We did manage to travel to a nearby snow field on Christmas Eve and got to at least pretend it was white.
Janet Camilleri says
Oh shame! Still, just visiting the USA would be a dream come true for me 🙂

One thing that came up all the time in my studies this year was the amount of reports vs action taken on social issues. Good reports have great value but are meaningless without implementation.
I would like to try a European river cruise – I think always having villages and things to look at would be a great place to write a book.
Janet Camilleri says
I saw so much wastage of reports when I worked in government – as you say, they are meaningless without implementation …
