This would have to be my favourite photo of me and the hubster.
Technically speaking, it’s not a great picture. The lighting’s pretty ordinary, and the background isn’t anything special.
On a more personal level, I’m not loving my double chin or that my arm looks dimply. I remember that this pic was taken after a long and busy day, and we were both probably feeling hot and sweaty. You can’t even see the hubster’s face properly.
BUT.
It’s still my absolute favourite photo of us; and that’s because it captures our relationship so beautifully.
I love:
- how we are snuggled together – I am tucked under one of his arms, and one of my hands is resting on his chest.
- how contented, secure and relaxed I look – my smile says it all.
- how he is looking at me – like I am the most precious, amazing, woman in the world – truly, the look of love.
It’s plain to see just from this one photo, that our love is flourishing even after more than 26 years of marriage!
And it also reminds me of one that was taken at our wedding.
Of course we’re looking a bit younger, a bit more dressed up, and a bit thinner back then! But it has a very similar mood; the hubster is giving me that exact same look of love. My expression is a little different … rather than content and secure, I look like I am in awe and wonder at snaring such a handsome and amazing hubby, on the threshold of our lives together.
Yes, I’m a sap! Can you see why these are my favourite photos of us, even though they were taken more than a quarter of a century apart?!

I can relate as some of my fave photos are those which aren’t actually ‘good’ photos in the true sense of the word. There’s one of my niece at 6mths old. I’m carrying her and my dad is next to me and I’m whispering in her ear. And her eyes are looking to the side as if she’s listening closely to what I’m saying. The bond between us looks so close and we look so comfy together I’ve always loved that pic.

Ohhhh that sounds so precious Deb x

Oh the wedding photo looks like a TV show!! I am a fan of photos when they feel like me. The looking like me is less important than the feel I get.

As you know, I take a number of pics for “everyday style” type posts. Sometimes I don’t recognise myself! My faves are the ones with my cheeky grin – it hasn’t changed since I was a tiny tot!

I am indeed Min. Wish I could bottle it and share it around!

I love the way he looks at you. It’s not lust or hunger, but love and tenderness. It seems so unconditional.

Me too Leanne, gives me goosies even after all these years x

It is a lovely photo because it isn’t ‘posed’. Sometimes these are the best photos because you can see the emotion behind them rather than a contrived setting.
Janet Camilleri says
That’s it exactly Sue! In some of our professional wedding photos, we looked like models … rather than a couple in love.
Kathy Marris says
They are precious photos of a couple very much in love. Now you’ve got me all soppy!
Janet Camilleri says
You and me both Kathy … nothing wrong with a bit of sop or sap (unless you have a lisp I guess!)
Jo ~ Lifestyle Fifty says
Awww, truly the look of love – in both photos. I adore them. What a gorgeous couple π I agree, sometimes it’s not the pose, or the clothes, or the look that’s important but rather the emotions which shine through. #teamlovinlife
Janet Camilleri says
I’ve seen some gorgeous photos of you and your hubby too Jo, with that same look of love x

Thanks Lyndall.

I love both of those photos, but I suppose I like the more recent on better because it wasn’t posed for, it was “caught in the moment” and more natural!
Janet Camilleri says
Definitely a candid snapshot π
