The hubster and I have long dreamed of a trip to Europe, but it was always in the “one day” basket.
We married and settled down quite young, so haven’t really done much in the way of overseas travel. It was something for the distant future – maybe once the kids were grown perhaps?!
I’m pinching myself because our dreams are about to become reality – we have now booked a trip to Europe in 2015, to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary.
Here are some of the pics I’ve pinned on Pinterest in the past, as I dreamed about a trip to Europe – that I am now going to see for myself, next year!
Malta
Venice
Pisa
Santorini
Bath
The Tower of London
We have booked a two week cruise of the Mediterranean, and will also spend some time in England and Singapore on the way back home.
Have you ever been to Europe? What do you think of as the “must-see” places?

Can I please come with you? Sounds ideal.
Janet Camilleri says
No offense, but that would kinda spoil the point of a romantic anniversary cruise! π

How exciting! I hope that one day my hubby and I will make it to Europe!! My overseas travel consists of a trip to Singapore to visit my sister when she lived there as an expat. We honeymooned at Norfolk Island which did require a passport but isn’t really classed as ‘overseas’. π

To paraphrase the old shampoo ad: It won’t happen overnight but it will happen. I’m still pinching myself that after all these years it’s finally happening for us!

How exciting π
Deborah says
Oh wow! So exciting. Europe (well, Italy) is on my bucket list as well!

Janet Camilleri says
Yes, we are particularly excited about seeing Italy and Malta as that is where hubster’s family originates from, and England because that is my family roots π

I’m so glad your dream is coming true! What a trip you’ll have. We toured Europe last year (first time for us too believe it or not) and loved everywhere we visited – the history, the culture, the food, oh just wish we were off again this year too. Have fun and keep us posted π
Janet Camilleri says
Maybe we are just late bloomers?! Whatever, we are definitely flowers in the garden of life π
Tamara says
Lovely photos. I love them all.
Emily @ Have A Laugh On Me says
That is the best news and I’m very very happy for you – that will be me in 15 years I hope!!!!!!!
Janet Camilleri says
Absolutely your turn will come – although – NEW YORK! I know you’ve been there so pretty jealous!
Annaleis says
I have dreams like these. Enjoy! Hope you get to see the sights you have pinned.
Janet Camilleri says
Should do – they’re all on the itinerary!

How exciting! I had the privilege of backpacking through Europe when I was in my twenties. Love to go back, my favs in no order prague, florence, venice… I’m hanging out to visit our friends in Ireland though it wont be anytime soon!
Janet Camilleri says
Good to hear Florence and Venice were at the top of your list as we are definitely going to both π
Pinky Poinker says
You lucky duck! Are you going to blog every day? I hope so!
Janet Camilleri says
Much as I’d love to I think internet is usually a challenge on cruises – but I’m sure I’ll make up for it when I get back!
KathyMarris says
Wow that will be fantastic Janet. I’ve heard from close friends that the Mediterranean Cruises are one of the best ways to see Europe. I’m hoping to do the same in 2017. As far as Europe goes I have only been to Paris (which was incredible), London (also fantastic) and Amsterdam (great place). I did do a 3 week trip to Turkey in 2012 and it was one of the best holidays I have been on. Turkey is a country full of interesting history, ancient ruins, Gallipoli and the beautiful coastline on the Mediterranean Sea. I loved every part of it.
Janet Camilleri says
Oh yay! We are just going to miss the Anzac Day 100 years at Gallipoli – we leave Brisbane on April 30. As there is a high terror alert for that occasion, I think I’m glad we’re not going there til later!
Tegan says
I hope you have an awesome time on your trip. I hope that you’ll take lot’s of pictures to show off on the blog!
Janet Camilleri says
Of course! π

So excited for you Janet!! I loved Switzerland, Austria, Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Scotland, Wales, England and Ireland. You could say I loved every place I visited. I’m also thinking of doing a cruise overseas but I’m looking at Canada/Alaska. Looking forward to hearing of your travels on your return next year.
Janet Camilleri says
LOL it does sound like you loved everywhere you went! Canada/Alaska sounds awesome – I love the ad on TV at the moment where they show the train with the clear panels on top π

Hubby and I were so lucky to do 28 days in Europe between leaving the US and moving to Australia. I hope one day we get back there, as there was so much we didn’t see, and places we’d like to see again. It is hard to know what to do when you have a limited time because there is just SO MUCH to see and do! Our trip was 7 years ago now. Time flies! Enjoy every second of it, and the anticipation leading up to it! π x

I adore Europe and England. I’ve been to all the places you have pinned except for Greece, and it remains on my bucket list. Hampton Court just outside London is spectacular. What a fabulous way to celebrate your anniversary.
Janet Camilleri says
Right – Hampton Court – definitely one to add to the list π … thanks for the tip!
Lisa Wood says
oh wow what a magical trip of a lifetime π I would love to see Greece, always been a dream of mine.
I did go to England when I was 18, for about 2 months but I so would love to return again one day…and yes dreams do come true.
