This week you get two-for-one in the “Shelf Style” series!
Kirsten from Kirsten and Co lives not too far from me, and is one of the very first bloggers I met in real life. When I asked her if she would like to share her shelf style, she was in the middle of shifting house – yet she was still keen to take part.
Not only that, you even get to see how she styled her Ikea shelves in the old house, and now how they look in her new home!
What room are your shelves in?
The shelves are in my home office (where I blog daily and do other essential tasks such as online shopping!)
How long have you had them?
I’ve had them for a couple of years.
What do you store in the boxes/cupboards?
The black boxes along the bottom have all sorts of random things stored in them. One is full of the kids’ artwork, another has their school reports in it, another has some leftover party supplies in it from Sophie’s Glamping Party from last year, and the lucky last one is where I keep momentos from my 40th birthday (birthday cards, photos etc).
The white boxes have photos in them, scrapbooking supplies and letters and cards the kids have given me over the years.
What is your favourite item on the shelves and why?
I love the fabric boxes on the bottom shelf. They’re great for storing bulky items and fit perfectly in the unit.
How often do you change the “look” of your shelves?
Usually once a year. Last year everything was hot pink and black, but this year I’ve gone for a more subtle monochrome look with pops of aqua.
I hope that you have been as inspired by Kirsten’s tidy office as I have been … now if only I could get mine looking that pristine 😉 !
It’s Your Turn!
If you have a set of Ikea shelves (or another brand) in your home – why not join in the fun? I’d love to feature yours in an upcoming blog post! All you have to do is snap some pics and answer the same five questions as Kirsten has above, and send to [email protected].
Which one do you prefer – the pink or aqua styling?!
Today I’m linking to FYBF over at With Some Grace.

Love those ikea shelves, there is just so much you can do with them. One day ours will have something other than toy tubs in them :))
Janet Camilleri says
It sounds like they are great for toys – shame I didn’t know about them when our kids were little!
Denise says
That looks so neat! I’d be embarrassed to send you a pic of mine at the moment because Mr 2 has been at them. But you’ve inspired me to tidy them up a bit.
Janet Camilleri says
I’ve shared one set of my Ikea shelves here on the blog. I actually have 2 more that are a lot messier 😉
Kirsten and co. says
Thanks so much for having me (and my ikea shelves!) on your blog x
Janet Camilleri says
Thank you for being so willing to share! I still can’t decide if I like the aqua or pink better. Normally aqua is my fave colour but I love the way the pink pops – and it does match your blog after all 😉
Kirsty @ My Home Truths says
I love the monochrome/aqua look – very cool!
I’ll send some pics through of mine plus some answers to your questions in the next week or so. Not very stylish but very practical for our hallway/entrance to our home!
Janet Camilleri says
I love how these shelves get used in all different rooms, we haven’t had a hallway/entrance set yet so really looking forward to seeing how you’ve done it!
Emily @ Have A Laugh On Me says
I’m going to kidnap Kirsten one day and get her to help me whip my shack into shape!
Janet Camilleri says
LOL maybe Kirsten should do it for a business … inspire people on her blog, and then help them achieve it!
Pinky Poinker says
I love the way Kirsten has all her stuff hidden from sight. It’s very neat. I liked the hot pink. I would have kept it that way.
Janet Camilleri says
Yes I love the pink too … even though I’m normally an aqua girl through and through!
Grace says
I love the pops of Aqua. Kirsten’s got great style, you guys are very lucky to live close by to each other x
