Can you believe – I forgot all about the school holidays?!
It’s a bit like that when your kids are grown.
I knew Mr 23 was on a break from uni, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s holidays for school kids as well. Besides, Mr 23 is still scarcely around even without lectures to attend, as lately has has been working 30 hours a week in his fast food job, as well as doing one day a week as an intern with a local financial planner.
No, it wasn’t til the hubster commented on the Tuesday after Easter that the lack of school traffic would mean a much quicker trip to work than usual.
School holidays barely affect me these days … or do they?
If anything they are slightly annoying, as I tend to avoid the shops and certain outings because I don’t like the crowds. (Maybe I’m just turning into a bit of a hermit after 5 years of working from home!)
For example, I’m desperately in need of a haircut and some highlights, but am thinking it will be a lot easier (and more enjoyable!) if I wait to get an appointment AFTER the school holidays.
And, on my walks in the morning I can go right past the local high school and not pass a single teenager! No doubt they are all enjoying a sleep in ๐ .
Occasionally I hear squeals from the two little girls next door as they play in the yard. But that’s about it really.
Do school holidays have much of an impact on your life these days?

Who would have thought you would miss your school days PDB?!
Karen says
School holidays are very much still part of my life (event though my kids are grown) as I am a year 1 teacher?. My colleagues and I are very much looking forward to the break as this term has been eleven weeks long! Hoping to get some relaxing painting done soon.
Janet Camilleri says
Yes, I do remember those days only too well (I was a primary teacher briefly in the 80’s)!
Deanna Anthony says
We have a lot of kids in our neighborhood, so I generally know when the kids have a few days off, but not always. Sometimes driving past to school I notice there are no cars and I wonder, ‘What month is it? The kids are out!’ lol
Janet Camilleri says
Actually the kids have been pretty quiet this school holidays, I suspect our neighbours have gone away!
Pinky Poinker says
Yes! It means I have holidays! I’d wait for that haircut if I was you.
Janet Camilleri says
I’m hanging in there – just!!!
