Over the past few weeks I have been conducting some intense research (okay, scrolling through Instagram) to stay abreast of the biggest fashion trends for Winter 2019.
And here’s what I won’t be wearing this winter.
A Dress with Ankle Boots
Some people absolutely rock this look (like the model below). Unfortunately I am not one of them.
I think it’s because I have really skinny ankles (in comparison to the rest of my body). Ankle boots with a skirt or dress make me look like I’m wearing giant Minnie Mouse clodhoppers.
Paper Bag Waist Pants
As you can see in the pic below, Miss 22 looks amazing in a pair of paper bag waist pants. But then she is young, tall and slender. I on the other hand am middle aged, a lot shorter and dumpy!
A Finely Pleated Skirt
There are two reasons why you won’t find one of these in my wardrobe anytime soon.
- Number One: Pleats just remind me way too much of my old high school uniform.
- Number Two: Let’s just say this is another look that is best left to the tall skinny young things.
Cold Shoulder Tops/Sleeves
I like to think we become more practical as we age, but then I saw this picture below. It’s winter, and in my mind, if it’s cold enough to wear long sleeves or a sweater, it’s too cold to bare my shoulders or have cut-outs in my sleeves.
Crop Tops
Ditto for crop tops. Besides, my midriff is definitely not something I want to draw attention to!
Although – never say never.
Up until recently I would NEVER wear any shade of yellow – camel, mustard, old gold, lemon, daffodil – and yet as you can see, that’s now gone by the wayside since I went to a colour workshop and realised I was an Autumn!
I also said much the same when puffer jackets first appeared on my fashion radar in about 2015!
As you can see I now wear BOTH, so it’s always best to keep an open mind. The styles we loathe one year could be our favourites, the next!
So tell me which look is not for you, this season?!
